| OFFERING PRAISE Psalm 107 says, "Oh that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! for He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, and praise Him in the company of the elders." (vs. 8,9,32) Psalm 100 tells us that God actually inhabits the praises of His people. This is in accord with the directions of verse 4 which tells us to "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise..." It is the offering of thanks and praise that we most often directly sense the presence of the Lord. A question comes up. How should we praise and give thanks to the Lord? Many methods of praising God described in the Bible contradict the traditions to which we have become accustomed. Our purpose in coming together is to please God, not to cling to our traditions. Listed are a few ways we praise the Lord. Early in our walk with the Lord, many of us felt uncomfortable praising God in these ways. Our praises are the habilitation of our God, and we want to delight in His ways. It is the Lord who says in Psalm 33:1 "...praise from the upright is beautiful." The Bible says. " O taste and see that the Lord is good. "(Psalms 34:8) "...His way is perfect..." (Psalms 18:30) |
